Etched into the crust of the Colorado Plateau are some of the most photogenic and captivating canyons in the world. Commonly referred to as slot canyons, these twisting sandstone labyrinths, carved from centuries of wind and rain, produce vivid tones of reds, purple, amber and bronze as shafts of light bounce off the rock walls.
In recent years the famous Upper and Lower Antelope Canyons are over run with tourists making it near impossible to capture a perfect image. Arizona Highways PhotoScapes bypasses these locations for the more secluded and less frequented but equally stunning Secret and Canyon X.
Beyond the beauty of the slot canyons, the Colorado Plateau offers endless photographic opportunities, from the strangely formed hoodoos on the Paria Plateau and the sprawling overlook of Lake Powell to the 270-degree view of the Colorado River at Horseshoe Bend.
Photographer Ken Sklute will lead you on a five day photo workshop through this intriguing landscape sharing his expertise in capturing compelling and creative images.
