Join Rina Sjardin-Thompson and Neil Protheroe for an unforgettable 11 day, 11 night photography tour in Provence in the South of France where we will be immersed in the natural beauty of the landscape as much as the unique culture, history and gastronomy of the region.
Our accommodations have been carefully chosen to offer our guests a true Provencale experience, and are complemented with a choice of great dining options wherever we go. Don’t speak French? No problem, we do!
Starting from Nice on the Côte d’Azur, we will be exploring the lush Var Valley and its old citadel towns, the dramatic Gorges du Verdon, the spectacular lavender fields around Valensole and the beautiful perched mediaeval villages of the Luberon. From there we will visit the ancient city of Arles – long a favourite among artists – with its narrow streets, bustling squares and extraordinary Roman remnants and artefacts presenting endless street photography opportunities.
The highlight of the trip is a 2-night stay in the Camargue where we will visit an ornithological park to see the flocks of pink flamingos (among other bird life) and then have private and exclusive access to photograph the wild white Camargue horses in their natural environment at sunrise and sunset, a unique and memorable experience.
On the return journey to Nice we will visit another of France’s most beautiful villages, Les Baux de Provence, before enjoying a relaxing afternoon and gourmet dinner at a luxury ‘mas’, a Provencale farmhouse hotel.
Our last day includes a guided visit to a boutique vineyard where we will be tasting some fabulous local wines and enjoying a farewell lunch.
