Join us and discover the spectacular beauty of New Zealand’s South Island in spring – a diverse assortment of beautiful landscapes, from snow- capped alpine peaks, lush rainforests, glacial lakes and rivers to remote rugged fiords, waterfalls, backcountry wilderness and unspoilt beaches.
Our tour highlights include a visit to the frontier town of Glenorchy at the head of Lake Wakatipu, an unforgettable doors-off sunrise helicopter flight at Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest peak, a hike into the Hooker Valley for a view of the mountain up close. At the lakeside resort town of Wanaka we will enjoy another helicopter flight to a mountain overlook for one of the most spectacular views in the country, which we will have to ourselves. A 4×4 excursion into the backcountry wilderness of the Nevis Valley, an area rich in gold mining history exploring the waterfalls, rain forests and unspoilt coast of the Catlins. And the tour finale will be an overnight cruise on remote Doubtful Sound in Fiordland.
This all-inclusive tour is led by Rina Sjardin-Thompson and Neil Protheroe, both highly experienced landscape photographers, tutors and guides. It is suitable for photographers of all levels of experience and enthusiasm.
Only moderate fitness is required for any of the walks we might do. Transportation within New Zealand is by comfortable Mercedes Sprinter minivans. Our group dinners will be taken at a variety of local restaurants.
